Gamon Sakurai (桜井画門 Sakurai Gamon) is the illustrator and later writer of Ajin. He has been credited as the author after the first volume when Tsuina Miura quit and has been creating the manga himself since.
Personal Life[]
- Sakurai was born in Tokyo, 1986. He is an avid fan of video games and often makes references to them within the manga, such as chapter titles (e.g. Battlefield Hardline) and characters within the manga itself, such as Satō, who is a fan of shooters and platformers. This is also evident from his Twitter account[1].
Notable Achievements[]
- Sakurai won the Grand Prize of the 2008 Winter Afternoon Four Seasons Awards. His winning short story was subsequently published in 2009 and he was selected for editorial review by manga publishing giant Kodansha. He would then work with Kodansha to work on his first feature length series AJIN: Demi-human in 2012.
- Sakurai is also less commonly known for his ero works, such as Jihatsu Aruiwa Kyousei Shuuchi, which was serialized in Bishbruh. A compilation of his erotic works was released in 2012, published by Issuisha.
